Exhumation – Among the Dead

What’s the whole fucking point???

No.. seriously…somebody tell me…. What are they trying to do?

The way death metal is treated….with all those fancy covers done with photoshop…is approaching the level of caricature.

The songs on this album are no way better.

I mean..we are listening to same kind of riffs..to the same kind of vocals…to the same lyrical themes…for ages it seems now…Why should then anyone buy an album which has virtually no new thing to offer??

The guys have prowess .. I am not denying that…but ambition…who knows? Rock was never about being a part of a trend… its suppose to break the trend or create new one…When will they understand?

And trust me..it shows when the band is singing and performing with a vision which they believe very zealously… Exhumation don’t…

“Nothing but misery” stands out for its chord change…but really… No reason to give this disc another spin….

If this band deserves kudos…its on the account that they kept every song around 3 minutes…. Kudos and cheers to that…(or BLOOD or TOMATO KETCHUP)…

Their score on Individualism: 0

Their score on Originality: 0

Their score on following everything from the book “Recording Guide to A Metal Band”: 10

By far the worst review I’ve ever read. Hey man, if you wanna diss us, come up with some really mean shit instead of useless talk.

Extremely poor review. When you are not fond of an album, write a decent review to justify why you don’t like it. Clearly extreme forms of music don’t seem to confirm to your taste, that’s fine. But if you write a biased review, over that its about a certain musical form and culture that you are not familiar with, you are making a fool out of yourself. From the first sentence to the last its an immature attempt. I mean the starting line…”Whats the fucking point”…!!! And I bet if you liked this album, your review would have been..”EXHUMATION IS FUCKING BRUTAL…RIFFS ARE BROOTAL…THEY ARE TR00 AND KVLT…BEST INDIAN DEATH METAL BAND…EVRYTHING GOOD ABOUT THE ALBUM..ONLY WEAK POINT IS THAT IT DOESN’T HAVE 100 SONGS” Reviews are not your thing dude, try something else.

Stop reviewing. Goto College Writing 101, learn the basics of reviewing art and maybe you can deserve a space to speak. This was just plain bullshit.

oh….there is a format of reviewing?…like formal letters? where i need to talk about certain things and unless i do so..it is not a review…

lol..i didnt know about the format…

did any of you read reviews which used to come in “melody maker”? n Lord Shashi Kiran…i am using this space…sorry i didnt take your permission..i may not deserve it..but..you are not in a position to judge me either..look at the comment..you didnt even tell me why the review sucked…

Chemical Spy, I told you what’s wrong with your review. You made it clear you think we suck, but you haven’t bothered explaining why. Instead of meaningless talk, tell us what you didn’t like. You’ve mentioned one song… anyone who’s not into a certain genre of music is obviously going to think that most of the songs on an album sound alike. Constructive criticism is most welcome, but if you plain hate us for the sake of it there isn’t much that’ll come out of it. Quit e-mailing me, reply here if you like.

I didnt say Exhumation suck…but the album sure did it..

And though i have mentioned it before I am saying it again here : Same riff, same vocals, same lyrical themes to the countless other bands and their albums…Nothing Original..Nothing like “If I want this stuff, I can only get it from Exhumation!”..

I have listened to every song on the album. In fact I was telling myself “May be this track will prove me wrong!” But only “Nothing but misery” was a tad worthy (according to me, for God’s sake) to mention here..

Listen..Why the fuck do you even care about this post? They have their fans and its not like people are reading this review and forming opinions..So leave it as it is…And please dont bring the genre biases here..The only other album I reviewed here is a metal album again..And if you are trying to tell me that i will like this album only if I am a metalhead then there is something wrong with the logic..

See…The guys play their songs..People need those songs to head bang while having their drinks…cool..But will anyone listen to some other band and say, “They sound like Exhumation!” ? Even you know the reply. If they are fine with it, theres no point to give this post the attention it is getting.

Chemicalspy, although there may not be a format to a review, the basis of any review is to share an informed judgment so that your readers can decide where to spend their time, money or bandwidth.

This review does NOT answer why you think the album sucks. Sure, it does draw upon a few pointers, but i’m still not convinced by your “reasons”.

On the other post, you mentioned bands like My Bloody Valentine & Big Black. True, they maybe the harbingers of noise rock, but no way were they Brutal Death Metal. Which is what Exhumation could be classified as. And no, i’m not going to boil it down to a genre-war, but if you’re context is wrong, then, sorry, you do sound like a jackass.

Question: Name any band in India which can provide a sound similar to Exhumation.
I’m sure there aren’t many, nay, none, which come to mind.

thats the best part of a review… if you are not convinced by my reasons…keep listening to the album and keep thinking i am a jackass…

    i criticized…i dint like it…and its completely IMO…

and please..no more comments on this post…i am sick of writing about this album which i dont care..
